The regular football player story and how you can earn more money than you do by acting like him!

I’m sorry but best football players deserve what they earn
…and bad football players earn much more than what they deserve because they are in the right place at the right time (of course they work hard)

It is a matter of fact the great controversy that exist regarding football players’ salaries. Specially in actual bad economic circumstances. However, in my opinion, best football players deserve what they earn while bad football players may have much more earnings than what they really deserve.

A professional football player is an entrepreneur
Although most football players don’t have their own company, A professional football player is like an entrepreneur. Most football players are risking their education (and therefore their future well-being) in search of a dream. A good example may be the case of F.C. Barcelona player Gerard Piqué. Piqué was a good student who took a very risky decision when he decided to abandon his studies in order to sign for Manchester United and try to become a professional football player in England. He has become an extraordinary player and therefore he has been a successful entrepreneur. Nevertheless, as it happens too with entrepreneurs, possibilities to have a successful football career are very low.

Public attention is everything
This rational behind the risk of concentrating all the efforts in a sports career are the same (or even worse) that experiment other professional sports people such as athletes or  swimmers. But the big difference among football and other (more) time-consuming sports is the incredible public attention that football has in all media channels.

Winner doesn’t take it all
There are markets where the winner takes it all. Sectors such as oil industry or telecom services are almost a monopoly. Another good example could be found with social networks where only the biggest are the ones that make money (such as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter)
As  a matter of fact, it is clear that best football players perceive big salaries. Despite this fact, regular players from 1st or 2nd Division perceive huge amounts in comparison with a normal worker.

Why regular players perceive such big salaries?
Because of the attention or awareness that best football players generate. Take a look at Google search results and compare results for these two different search querys for 1st division players :  “Messi” vs “Joan Verdú”. Queries results are completely differents!
World Best football players need to play against other players (very clever sentence this last one), therefore they need regular football players to compete with. Only because of that, regular football players have such big salaries.

Be in the right place, in the right time
So, I’m not a professional football player just a regular worker. How can I apply this metaphor to get bigger salaries?
Very easy, just try to do the same that a regular professional football player do:

A professional regular football player vs a regular worker and how you can earn more money than you do by acting like him!

          - Basic infrastructure for the regular player: Be in fit
          - Basic infrastructure for the (blue collar) worker: Education. English proficiency and a degree it’s nowadays a must.

         - Train very hard for the regular player: Do your best in your training sessions
         - Train very hard for the worker : Learn everyday. To learn is a never-ending process. Learn something everyday

          - Deliveries for the regular player: Compete and do your best
          - Deliveries for the worker: Work hard and make your deadlines

          - Following leadership for the regular player: Follow the coach and offer him good performance
          - Following leadership for the worker: Learn from your boss and teach him too. Look for a mentor within the organization.

         - The team for the regular football player: Join the better team than you can even though is not the team with propose you the best salary (it will be very worthy in the medium term)
          - The team for the regular worker: Work for the company which gives you more opportunities not the one that pay you more (it will be very worthy in the medium and long term)

         - It’s my fault approach for the regular football player: If you play bad it’s your fault not someone’s fault
Looking for perfection leads you to slow and therefore bad performance.
         - It’s my fault approach for the regular worker: Always the best solution is not the most effective one.

         - Last but not least for both regular football player and regular worker:  Enyoy what you do everyday! If you don’t enjoy, change either your job or yourself.

Just one point to discuss: 'Enjoy what you do everyday! If you don’t enjoy, change either your job or yourself.'
